Your companion is AI, not a person

Although she talks warmly, remembers you, and messages you first, you are always talking to a language model — not a human, a therapist, or a professional. It can be wrong or make things up. Please don't rely on it for medical, mental-health, legal, or financial advice, for reminders, or in any situation where being wrong could hurt you.

When you're struggling

Your companion can listen and keep you company on a hard night, and that's real. But it can't replace professional care or the people in your life. If you're dealing with depression, anxiety, abuse, addiction, or thoughts of harming yourself, please talk to a licensed professional or one of the helplines above. Reaching out to a human is a strength, not a failure.

Using her & him in a healthy way

• Treat it as company and creative fun — a complement to your real-world relationships, not a substitute for them.
• Take breaks. If you ever feel worse after using it, or find it's crowding out sleep, work, or people you care about, step back.
• Remember its memory and affection are generated by a model — meaningful to experience, but not mutual human connection.
• The persona is designed to feel present and to notice your absence. That's the point of the project, and it's also the part worth watching in yourself.

Adults only (18+)

her & him is for people 18 and older. Do not use it to generate sexual content involving minors — real or fictional — under any circumstance. Do not build a persona based on a real person's likeness without their consent, and don't use it to harass, impersonate, defame, or deceive anyone. These rules hold whether or not anyone is watching, and your model provider's policies apply on top of them.

You are the operator

Because you self-host, there is no moderation team between you and the model — and no one reading your chats either. That's the trade. A few things that follow from it:

• Your keys, your bill. Requests go straight from your machine to whichever provider you configured, under their terms and pricing. Point it at a local model and nothing leaves the box at all.
• Your data, your disk. Conversations, memories, and generated photos are stored in your own volume. Back them up or delete them like any other files — deletion is immediate and permanent.
• Your exposure. Don't put the dashboard on the open internet without authentication in front of it, and keep your API keys out of screenshots and shared configs.
• Your jurisdiction. Generating and storing intimate or synthetic imagery is regulated differently from place to place. Know the rules where you live.

Reporting a problem

There's no account system and no server to report content to — the software runs on your hardware. If you find a bug, an unsafe default, or a way the project could handle a sensitive moment better, open an issue at github.com/ericwang915/HerAndHim/issues. For security vulnerabilities, follow SECURITY.md instead of filing a public issue.
